BOLT CSR PRESS RELEASE
The FCTA Secretary for Transportation, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido has applauded the efforts of Bolt Nigeria to partner with the Secretariat in giving Abuja residents seamless public transportation.
The Secretary made the commendation while commissioning the donation of office furniture, projector and partitioning of office space at the Lugbe Command of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services provided by the Bolt Nigeria as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
The Secretary who was represented by the Director, Traffic Management, Alhaji Wadata Bodinga said Bolt Africa had set new standards by looking at an area that looked as if it was forgotten by corporate bodies and assured them of the government’s willingness to continue to partner with them and other groups that will like to partner in the development of the territory.
In his address, the Director of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services, Dr Abdul-Lateef Bello said the Directorate was quick to respond to the emerging challenges in transportation and the regulatory mechanism and therefore, created a unit known as Public Transport Monitoring to facilitate the integration of emerging technologies in transportation sector with the DRTS existing database for effectiveness and better service delivery in the Territory.
The Director noted that Bolt Nigeria had been partnering with the Transportation Secretariat and had extended the same to the Directorate by providing furniture and partitioning of offices, a gesture which he said has demonstrated their willingness to change the transportation narrative with respect to the e-hailing transport system in the FCT.
Also speaking, the Head of Public Policy at Bolt Africa, Mr Kenneth Anye narrated how technology drives every aspect of human endeavour believing that transport management cannot thrive well anywhere in the world without technology. He reiterated that the exchange of ideas or cross-fertilization of ideas in public transport management was the best thing that can happen to any society and commended the FCT Administration for the efforts being made in that sector. Mr Anye noted that it was the policy of his organisation to work closely with both public and private sector organisations to ensure that the right policies are made achievable.
