The Directorate Of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) has been recognised as one of the most e- government compliant Agencies in Nigeria.![]()

This was made known by the DRTS Director, Dr. Bello AbdulLaleef, during a chat with Abuja Digest.![]()

The Director, who spoke through the Head of Information Communications Technology, Mr. Auwalu Mohammed, said that the recognition became possible, because DRTS has been able to attain all the levels of e- government master plan of the Federal Government Of Nigeria.![]()

According to him, the four levels of e- governance for data interoperability includes Government to Citizens, Government to businesses, Government to employees and Government to Government.![]()

The Director said that the Federal Government Master Plan is a Road Map for the adoption of e-government best practices by all Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA).![]()

“Digitizing Government Services and information will save time, money, remove bureaucratic bottleneck in administrative processes and reduce paper work”, he stated.![]()

Bello said, that is what the DRTS under his leadership has done by putting some of its Services on Public domain like the DRTS self Service portal (selfservice.fctevreg.com)![]()

In a related development, the Directorate has stopped registering commercial Motorcycles (aka Okada riders) in the Federal Capital Territory due to the restrictions placed on them since 2006.![]()

The Director noted that asking Motorcycle Riders to register will amount to legalising their activities, especially in the City Centre.![]()

“The use of crash helmet is compulsory for all Dispatch Riders in FCT and anyone who violates the order will have his motorcycle apprehended until the stipulated fines are paid.![]()

Dr. AbdulLaleef called on members of the public to always avoid Road accidents by obeying the traffic laws and regulations.”![]()
